Blossom Bennett

Meet Blossom Bennett, a certified Home Health Aide who has been providing loving caregiving services to patients and clients in varied settings for the past 34 years. She has been a standout HHA and, for her exceptional service at WFC, she was selected as the March 2022 Caregiver of the Month.

She began her career in her native Jamaica looking after her ailing mother and then caring for a private elderly client. She left Jamaica for an opportunity in Canada in 1988, where she obtained her HHA certification and then spent five years working at a nursing home. This was followed by an additional ten years providing in-home care to a private family.

Blossom is grateful for the clinical training she obtained at the Canadian nursing home. She cared for a wide variety of patients with different conditions — stroke victims, residents who were blind, disabled, or needed to have their trachea feeding tube changed.

“I like taking care of the elderly. My patients always looked forward to seeing me first thing in the morning. I liked to make sure they were clean, taking their prescriptions, and in a safe environment.”

She enjoyed her nursing home responsibilities and continued with them on a part-time basis when she took on the full-time position of in-home caregiving for private family members.

Blossom moved to the United States in 2003, where she has spent nineteen years working exclusively as an in-home care provider. The onset of COVID has made her appreciate working in a home setting.

Nowadays a lot of people prefer to live at home. I’m hands-on and very caring with my patients and clients. I like to take them outdoors. Elderly people love to go outside.”

Working for Westchester Family Care during the past five years has been gratifying for Blossom. She’s capably called upon her previous experience working with clients having different conditions. Like the working arrangement she had with a Canadian family, she enjoys long-term WFC engagements with clients needing live-in homecare.

“I like working w/WFC. The atmosphere is nice and very professional. My partner is a fully trained nurse. It’s an agency where they listen and talk to you. If I express any concerns, they are right there to take care of them.”

We like working with you too, Blossom. We think you’re a real professional and we’re grateful for your exemplary client service and can-do attitude. We are proud of you and congrats on becoming our March 2022 WFC Caregiver of the Month.
