Cynthia Malcolm

Meet Cynthia Malcolm, a certified Home Health Aide, (HHA) at Westchester Family Care Inc. (WFC). We proudly congratulate Cynthia for being awarded the Heroes in the Home™ honor, a Statewide Recognition Program by the NYS Association of Health Care Providers which celebrates outstanding caregivers. Honorees are identified by their agency as outstanding home care caregivers over the last year.

Cynthia is neither a newcomer to providing caregiving services nor to being recognized for her exemplary service. She was WFC’s Caregiver of the Month in November 2019. She has been a licensed HHA for over twenty years and has worked with WFC for the past three years. What’s more, Cynthia not only cares for those in their golden years but also for those just entering the world – she is a Certified Newborn Care Specialist.

Having as much experience in the field as she has, Cynthia has worked at all the home care venues, including Independent and Assisted Living facilities as well as Nursing Homes. She prefers caregiving in the home environment. Private homes are “comfortable, relaxing, secure, and safe.”

With WFC, Cynthia feels that she’s found a home. “They always give me assignments that are best for me; they’re very good at matching HHAs up to the right clients. I’d rate them 99.9% for being excellent at what they do. Plus, they are very understanding of the time I need to take off to care for my babies. They make life easy for everybody.”

Cynthia is just coming off a typical job where she was doing live-in service for a client who was at end-of-life. She put in 12-hour shifts, 5 days per week. She stayed with the client through the end. While there is a sadness to the profession, Cynthia considers it all part of the job and enjoys the personal satisfaction of making life easier for the client. It’s this positive attitude that keeps winning awards for Cynthia and being recognized for a job well done. Congrats again!

“I am a steady worker, and I love what I do. I appreciate the awards, but they’re not going to change me. If I won a million dollars, I would still want to keep working as a caregiver.”
