WFC Sixth Anniversary 2021 Year in Review

It’s that time of year again. It has become a WFC tradition, as the calendar year draws to a close, to highlight events that have transpired and take stock of our accomplishments. And, what a year it was!

The New Normal

Looking back, 2021 was the year for a collective sigh of relief that vaccines and boosters lessened COVID’s impact, and we all set about the business of adjusting to a new normal.

We’re proud to report that the WFC team is entirely vaccinated! We achieved compliance with NYS DOH regulations through early planning and thorough workforce education. Congrats on a great group effort to safeguard our work environment.

WFC has continued to embrace the “hybrid office” in 2021. A small team is on hand at the Mamaroneck office to facilitate in-person recruiting and onboarding activities. Our office workforce continues to stay in touch and communicate virtually.

Similarly, we continue to be entirely digital with online meetings and education as well as with our major company systems:

  • Virtual Instructor-Led In-Service Sessions with Town Halls and Holiday Parties
    • In-Service, or Continuing Education Sessions, are mandated by the NYS Department of Health and held every two months. There’s a 12-hour requirement which our workforce meets or exceeds every year.
    • Town Halls are an add-on feature to In-Service Sessions where our workforce is invited to ask questions, make comments or suggestions. It is also where we communicate the new developments and enhancements at WFC.
    • We also celebrated the holidays during these sessions. We announced notable workforce rewards and recognitions and distributed raffles and prizes. It made for festive New Normal Holiday Celebrations!

  • Virtual Job Fairs
    • They are a steady part of our recruitment and hiring programs.
    • We are well-positioned for the home care industry’s explosive growth as we are a destination for experienced workers and displaced workers who’ve lost their job to COVID.

WFC’s Leadership Role in Putting our Workforce First

“If you take care of your employees, they will take care of the clients.”
Richard Branson, Founder – Virgin Group

Since its inception, Westchester Family Care (WFC) has always been a company that puts the interests of our Workforce First. Founder/CEO Glenn Lane’s vision is to offer a different kind of home care agency: one that cares as deeply for the caregiver as the client. As a result, we have always had a progressive approach to top-tier compensation, benefits, training, and a rewarding and supportive work environment.

As we conclude a difficult year with ongoing COVID challenges and labor shortages, WFC reviewed all aspects of workforce rewards to ensure we continue to attract and retain the best in the industry. With workforce feedback, we have further increased investments in our people but significantly enhancing our compensation and benefits programs and added two new positions to further focus on caregiver experience and satisfaction — Employer Services Specialist and Caregiver Peer Mentor.

Further, we launched an innovative Employee Hardship Fund called “Westchester Family Care Grant Circle.” designed to help workers who face immediate unexpected financial issues such as those related to housing, medical or car repairs.

Technology Updates

Technological enhancements this year have made communications more efficient. We made it easier for our nurses in the field to communicate with the home office and enabled them to complete record-keeping on-the-spot. We’ve also improved collaboration and communications between WFC team members by connecting the workforce to the Microsoft Teams platform.
In a challenging year, we were able to deliver services at the same exceptional level, adapting as circumstances change. We are proud we kept our WFC family of clients, caregivers, and office staff safe. And we’re excited for 2022: new and exciting developments are already in the planning for the WFC community!
